Rating: B- -- Under Gardner's heavy-handed direction it doesn't transfer well from stage to screen. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/4 -- This is good stuff. Unfortunately, director Herb Gardner is a little too fond of writer Herb Gardner's script, which just keeps going and going and going -- until even two old pros such as Walter and Ossie have worn out their welcome.

Rating: 2.5/4 -- The beauty of the language does come through, but the net effect of the movie is to make the viewers wish they had gone to the play instead. Full Review

Product Description:

Nat Moyer (Walter Matthau) and Midge Carter (Ossie Davis) are a comically mismatched duo of geriatric New Yorkers, who observe the idiosyncrasies of modern urban life while seated on a bench in Central Park. When Midge, who also serves as the manager of Nat's apartment building, becomes threatened by retirement, Nat jumps in to stand up for his friend--taking on a drug dealer, a mugger, and even his daughter. This film was adapted by Herb Gardner from his Tony-winning play.
