Music Lovers' Ratings & Reviews:
Based on 3 ratings.
This "album" (now CD) originally released in 1979 was produced by the legendary Dayton Burr "Bones" Howe (who also produced The 5th Dimension, The Association, and many others). It was recorded "live" in a studio with the "canned" audience later added for effect... after all, what's a comedy album without a laugh track?
The personnel playing on the album are also legendary including Peter Frampton on guitar and Hal Blaine on drums. However, unlisted here are The Ron Hicklin Singers, who sing two "Bun And Run" commercials. Those in the biz will recognize their names immediately. The Los Angeles vocal group sang many McDonalds, Kawasaki, Datsun and tons of other commercial spots in addition to being background (and foreground) singers on many records. In fact, Ron Hicklin was the "voice" of Gary Lewis on his recordings and the group were also "The Monkees" singing the background vocals on many of their recordings.
All in all, to me this is a "must have" campy recording for any serious collector. Don't forget to make sure the kids are out of the room though when you play PIG IN A BLANKET. :) ...and crank it up!
