Entertaining enough, but a pity they didn't draft in more of the Eisenhower context. Full Review

Rating: 3/5 -- Mr. Aykroyd and Mr. Hanks play well together, but the funniest performance in the film is that of Dabney Coleman, as the smut king (who lisps).

Rating: 3/4 -- This is the only review of it you'll read that resists the temptation to open by quoting the naggingly insistent Dragnet motif of "Dum-de-dum-dum." There's just nothing dumb about this agreeably lightweight spoof. Full Review

The update carries only a surface resemblance to its television ancestor; the rest is more reminiscent of the comic-book world of Batman, Robin and Superman. Full Review

...Aykroyd hilariously establishes his stern and no-nonsense persona....[Aykroyd and Hanks] give the film a vitality...

Rating: 3/4 -- It's fun a lot of the time. Several individual shots are hilarious. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/5 -- At one time, maybe Dan Aykroyd's accelerated, authoritative jibber-jabber caroming off Tom Hanks' loud wailing was enough. But today, "Dragnet" feels pokey next to the peers of based-on-TV-series sorta-parodies it helped inspire. Full Review

Product Description:

A seemingly squeaky clean television reverend and a porno magazine king are suspected of operating a crime-ridden cult. It's up to Joe Friday's nephew and his "hip" partner to prove these allegations, with just the facts.

Plot Synopsis:

A parody of the famous TV series, starring Dan Aykroyd as the nephew of LA's most upstanding cop. The new Sergeant Friday tries valiantly to continue his uncle's untiring quest for law and order -- with an emphasis on order. But with wacky hipster Pep Streebek for a partner, that's not so easy. When the mismatched twosome try to crack a case involving a crazed TV evangelist and a slimy porn mogul, law and disorder is the name of the game.
