The Orioles successfully combined the sound of traditional Pop songs with Gospel sensibilities - they laid the groundwork for many of the most successful R&B and Doo Wop vocal groups of the '50s. The group met with tragedy in 1950 when an auto accident killed one member and injured the other two. Replacements were found and the various incarnations the group began hitting the charts again in 1952. This 3-CD set presents a great overview of the group's incarnations and includes alternate takes and rare tracks.
