Rating: B -- The first Hemingway novel made into a Hollywood film is also one of the better ones due to Gary Cooper's star turn and Borzage's stylized helming, even if a happy ending was imposed against the author's wishes and protests. Full Review

Description by OLDIES.com:

"Let's love tonight," they said, "There may be no tomorrow!" Helen Hayes, Gary Cooper, and Adolphe Menjou, star in this adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's famous novel about a romance born in the fury of World War 1. Nominated for a Best Picture Oscar in 1934, this stunning feature from director Frank Borzage earned an Academy Award for cinematographer Charles Lang. Among the other accolades heaped on this Paramount Pictures classic, The National Board of Review placed it on their Top Ten Films of the year list.
