Ordered by his father to stop carousing with women, playboy jack Hackett (William Collier, Jr.) dumps his fiancee Mabel (Margaret Livingston) and motors west to California accompanied by his halfwit cousin Ossie (Joe E. Brown). Rear-ending a hothead (Bela Lugosi) who drives off with their car, the boys hitch a ride with two peppy ladies, Constance (Ona Munson) and Penny (Marjorie White), who join them at a Pasadena hotel. So when Jack proposes to Constance and his vindictive ex tracks him down, Ossie whips up a half-baked scheme to cook Mabel's goose, but nothing goes according to plan.
