Rating: 3/4 -- Manages to be both disquieting and entertaining -- and that's quite a cunning feat of cinema. Full Review

Rating: 2/4 -- By hewing so faithfully to their source, the creators don't let the material pursue its own direction, and the result feels dramatically arbitrary. Full Review
San Francisco Chronicle
Oct 22, 2004
Rating: 3/4 -- Daniel Handler's script has snap, crackle and pop (he's the author of the popular Lemony Snicket children's books), and Curtiss Clayton's direction is darkly crisp.
New York Post
Sep 24, 2004
Rating: 1.5/5 -- The intended black comedy is no more than a wan mix of over-the-top unpleasantness and obvious psychologizing. Full Review
Boxoffice Magazine

Rating: 2/5 -- An ill-advised combination of tragedy and satire, it generally plays like the coffee-break fantasy of a temp who messed up a lunch order and paid for it with his dignity. Full Review
Los Angeles Times

Rating: 3.5/4 -- Very funny, very dark and very clever -- a tale of the corporate id gone wild that promises to upset even the most jaded and hardened of sensibilities. Full Review
Combustible Celluloid

Rating: 3/4 -- It's rotten to the core and right down to the end. But if you find that such extremes can be fascinating, then the movie may cheer you, not because it is happy, but because it goes for broke. Full Review

Product Description:

Living on plush Park Avenue and holding down a cushy corporate job, Rick (Bill Pullman) seems to have mastered the art of the good life. His perfect family is shattered by the death of his wife and his increasingly elusive teenage daughter. At the hands of his kooky and sadistic boss, Rick's career begins to unravel as well. A moody, haunting drama, RICK allows Pullman to uncover his broad emotional range.
