Description by OLDIES.com:

Very few television shows withstand the test of time, and Rod Serling's "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" is one of the notable exceptions. Proven to be an important part of American culture since its debut on CBS in October 1959, many Hollywood producers, screenwriters and directors have been inspired and influenced by this series. Comic books, magazine articles, numerous television revivals, a major motion picture and even modern audio productions have been produced, showcasing the continuing popularity of this television classic. This definitive history presents a portrait of the beloved Rod Serling and his television program, recounting the major changes the show underwent in format and story selection, including censorship battles, production details, and exclusive memories from cast and crew. The complete episode guide recalls all 156 episodes of the series in detail that has never before been accomplished in any publication. This book will make you want to look back at the episodes once again, whether you are a casual fan or serious enthusiast of the series. Unlock the door to a television classic by reading about the in-jokes, bloopers, and other trivia associated with the behind-the-scenes production of . . . "THE TWILIGHT ZONE!"

at first i wondered how this compared to other books on the twilight zone and was them surprised to discover it could not compare. this book made me dispose of most of my other books and you can take it from me, the guy who posts on Facebook when SyFy Channel has a twilight zone marathon, this is the best book on the subject. throw your old ones away. and the same author wrote other books also on oldies.com such as the green hornet and gang busters. if only everyone wrote books like these. my only gripe is that the book is too thick and there is no hardcover version available.

Get this while you still can! Customer: from TN -- February, 3, 2010

This is an incredible tome! Every TZ fan should own this, especially if you are like me and never tire of catching an episode in the middle of the night or watching the DVD sets. The details are amazing! This is the book I have been waiting for....And Oldies.com is top notch, too!

If pop culture television is archaeology, then it follows that there must be television archeologists. Surely one of the finest treatments given to The Twilight Zone with detail level that is unsurpassed. This book is the documentary equivalent of the skeletal goodies uncovered by Dr. Leakey at Olduvai Gorge. We all have seen The Twilight Zone... at least, we think we have. This marvelous book is stuffed with revelations such as the sixth season that was never produced. Serling apparently wanted to do a few two-parters, film on location at a deserted island and include more extra-terrestrials in the scripts.

The buffet is the episode guide which details everything from the music cues and production cost to inside jokes, bloopers and deleted scenes. An explanation of the closing scene in "The Man in the Bottle" that was filmed and never used explains Serling's displaced closing commentary. Did you know that Fats had a young girl in cloud nine in "A Game of Pool" and that scene was deleted from the final print? A microphone appears on the camera for a good ten seconds in "On Thursday We Leave For Home."

Even though this reviewer is extremely familiar with the television series having read every book written and every magazine article in print, this book blows me away. My highest recommendation.

The Door Has Been Opened Customer: from New York, NY -- November, 26, 2008

as a fan of the twilight zone series, i bought this book and discovered it surpasses any others in my collection. music cues for each episode, dates of filming, cost production and more. trivia is the best. i learned where the microphone is located on the screen in one episode. movie posters that were in-jokes won't go overlooked now. props reused in mutliple episodes. behind the scenes stories is great. don't dismiss this as just another twilight zone book. wow!
