In Search of Ancient Mysteries

"Are UFO sightings evidence of continued alien interest in the Earth? Is someone in space still watching the descendants of a colony sent to Earth thousands of years ago?" These questions and more are explored in this vintage documentary narrated by the legendary Rod Seling. Inspired by Erich von Däniken's massively successful 1968 book, Chariots of the Gods, the film investigates the possibility that such Earthly wonders as the Moai statues on Easter Island, the Bimini Wall in the Bahamas, the Tower of Winds in Greece, the Inca roads system and others may be evidence of extraterrestrial visitations in our planet's distant past. Fueled by interest in von Däniken's book and all things UFOs, In Search of Ancient Mysteries was a hit with ‘70s audiences, so plans went ahead to turn it into a regular syndicated TV series, also to be narrated by Serling. The Twilight Zone creator's 1975 death from lung cancer prevented that from happening, so instead the series (called In Search Of…) was hosted by Mr. Spock himself….Leonard Nimoy.
