More foolish than horrible. The story and dialogue pile the agony on too thick to give the audience a reasonable scare. Full Review

A dismal hocus-pocus which seems to confuse its actors as much as it fails to frighten its audience. Full Review

No monsters but lots of atmosphere, this is a classic of the genre. Full Review

Ulmer never again had the budgetary resources granted him by Universal (at the time, Karloff and Lugosi were two of the studio's biggest stars), and he makes the most of them. Full Review

Wildly expressionistic, the movie has nothing to do with the Poe story from which it takes its title and everything to do with Ulmer's sense of the Nazi menace. Full Review

Rating: 5/5 -- This timeless classic is a testimony to the craft of director Edgar G Ulmer before his career lurched into the quickie arena. Full Review

Product Description:

Italian filmmaker Luigi Cozzi (STARCRASH) was a long-time collaborator of acclaimed director Dario Argento, and this amusing horror film was his homage to his mentor. It's about a director who plans to complete Argento's "Three Mothers" trilogy, which began with SUSPIRIA (1977) and INFERNO (1980). Unfortunately for the cast and crew, the third witch is real and begins killing people off. The film is full of thunder and lightning, gore effects, and a familiar cast including Brett Halsey, Florence Guerin, Caroline Munro, and fellow Argento protégé Michele Soavi (CEMETERY MAN).
