Product Description:
Amanda, a lonely young girl who lives in a small Nova Scotian town, sees an old man (Cronyn) jump off a bridge into some very cold water. Jumping in after him, Amanda is startled to find that he jumped on purpose and swims very well. He introduces himself as John, and invites Amanda to his house to dry off. There Amanda discovers something very different about John and his wife, namely that they sleep in saltwater tanks, eat algae, and drink seaweed tea. She begins an investigation into the mermaid myth that is popular in the area, and as she becomes friendlier with the elderly couple, they share their relationship to sea with her. A sweet, tender fable that appeals to all ages, SEA PEOPLE is an ideal family film.
