Putting the words 'disco' and 'godfather' in a title is already inviting trouble, but in execution the makers of this urban 'drama' not only embrace it, they downright make love to it.

While the hilarious karate and hallucinations that close the film are worth the wait, they don't justify the gleeful submission to the era's fads or the preachy, anti-drug crusade, both of which make Disco Godfather too inhibited for its own good.

Rudy Ray Moore is Tucker Williams, the rapping owner and main attraction of the Blueberry Hill Disco. An ex-cop with a penchant for head-whacking martial arts, Tucker is called back into action when his nephew (Julius J. Carry III) gets hooked on angel dust.
Aided by the cool sensibilities of his "Gal Friday" Noel (Carol Speed from The Mack and Abbey) Tucker declares war on Stinger Ray (James H. Hawthorne), the nation's leading angel dust producer. But as the war progresses, Tucker learns that Stinger and his goons are as deadly as the drugs they push.
