Rating: 4/5 -- Hákonarson maintains a tone as chilly as the Icelandic countryside, but still offers touches of dry, dark Nordic humor, and just when the film can't get any bleaker, it ends on a note of almost shocking tenderness. It's quite a ride for such a quiet ride. Full Review

Rating: 4/5 -- After grim comedy comes the threat of grim tragedy. The ending is a do-or-die confrontation with the elements, powerfully presented. Full Review

Rating: 3.5/5 -- A meaningful drama with sparse moments of comedy, Rams is essentially a tale of determination and forgiveness. Full Review

4 star out of 5 -- Grímur Hákonarson draws on his documentary experience to combine with cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen in capturing the look and feel of a beleaguered community whose hardy souls have lost the will to battle the odds and the elements.

Rating: 2/5 -- The shafts of humour don't shine nearly as brightly as they should. Full Review

Director Hákonarson has a documentary background, and he and cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen have shot RAMS in Búdardalur, in the north of Iceland, an area of remote and stunning landscapes that always engage the eye.
