Bonga recorded Angola 72 and Angola 74, in Rotterdam via the Morabeza label dedicated to Cape Verdean musicians. Masterpieces composed of songs inexpressibly sad (although their melancholy is relieved by upbeat tempos), that are an account of his experiences in Luanda. It was important to re-release these recordings, that have a place of choice among the finest of modern African music.
