Next Goal Wins is a sports comedy-drama film directed by Taika Waititi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Iain Morris. Based on the 2014 documentary of the same name by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison, the movie follows Dutch-American coach Thomas Rongen's inspiring journey to lead the American Samoa national football team, one of the weakest soccer teams globally, in their quest for qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Michael Fassbender stars as Rongen, with a talented ensemble cast including Oscar Kightley, Kaimana, David Fane, Rachel House, Beulah Koale, Will Arnett, and Elisabeth Moss.
