I'll be darned if I didn't react quite often to it the way all involved were presumably striving for. (Full Content Review for Parents also Available) Full Review

Rating: C -- On the one hand, it's well-meaning and high-minded; on the other, it's obvious and predictable. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/4 -- 23 Blast has a tiny budget and an uninspired script, but the bond between the leads is worth cheering. Full Review

Rating: 2/4 -- Another inspirational film that rarely strays from the playbook, but first-time director Baker gives it some life. Full Review

Rating: 5/10 -- 23 Blast may not be a good movie, but it's honest about what it is and doesn't pander to wider audiences looking for edginess and cynicism. Full Review

Although the film has moments when it's serious about exploring the challenges that someone in Travis's situation faces, it ultimately prefers to be just another football movie with a hokey big-game ending. Full Review

Product Description:

A talented young football player makes an unlikely comeback after losing his sight in this inspirational sports drama based on the true story of Travis Freeman. As young boys, Travis and his best friend Jerry Baker bonded over their love of football. Years later, as teenagers at a Kentucky high school, Travis and Jerry have become their team's star players. Then, just when it starts to look like nothing can stop him, Travis suddenly falls ill with a virus that destroys his optic nerve overnight. But while Travis may be blind he certainly isn't alone, and with help from his parents, his unbending physical therapist, his coach, and Jerry, the talented young athlete is soon back on the gridiron and preparing to compete in the state playoffs. Now if Travis can just remain focused on the game rather than getting distracted by temptation, perhaps he will prove to himself and those who inspire him that it pays to hold onto your dreams even in the face of certain defeat. Alexa Vega, Stephen Lang, and Timothy Busfield star in the feature directorial debut of actor Dylan Baker (who also co-stars as Travis' father).
