I have not read comic books for decades, and I don't keep up with all the characters in the DC world. This movie introduced me to the manic and beautiful Harley Quinn, an extraordinary character. Harley’s feelings change from loving to hating or from from sentimental to hostile instantaneously.
As the movie begins, Poison Ivy (PI) and Floronic Man (also a character new to me), a tree man from another planet, are trying to discover a formula to turn people into plants before humans destroy the ecology of the planet. Unknown to PI, if the formula they produce is minutely wrong, she and Floronic Man will destroy all life on earth.
Batman and Night Wing are recruited for the case and realize that PI’s pal Harley Quinn, who has recently been released from prison, is the person who is most to be able to lead them to PI. Because the dynamic duo is dependent on the unfocused and unreliable Harley, the adventure becomes a disorganized and humorous adventure.
I cannot recommend this for young children as Harley’s language is salty at times and Night Wing and Harley have a sexual encounter.
[After saving the world, Harley becomes a TV psychologist. Her advice to her audience: “Be good to yourselves because everyone else in the world is probably out to get you.” (Great line!)]
