It's a shame that her battle of wills with Lane isn't further mined, but nevertheless the film proves an elegant, emotional drama that erupts with full-blooded moments of domestic horror.

[I]t's original and shrewdly made, with a floridly gripping suspense. And Lane and Costner give it their all in a casual way that only pros this seasoned and gifted can.

Kermode & Mayo's Film Review
[I]t's Lane who gets top billing, deservedly, in this surprisingly gripping and moving modern western about two mothers, at odds over the fate of a small boy.”
Washington Post
Product Description:
Based on the novel by Larry Watson, the film focuses on the story of retired sheriff George Blackledge (Kevin Costner) whose wife Margaret (Diane Lane) is bent on finding their grandson after the death of their son. Their daughter-in-law Lorna (Kayli Carter) has taken the boy to go live with another man. When the Blackledges discover that their grandson's new family is involved in dodgy situations, they try to rescue him, but not without becoming entangled in this new family's problems. Written and directed by Thomas Bezucha.
