Entertainment Reviews:
BLAZE is more affecting than most other live-hard/die-ugly music biopics.
Hollywood Reporter
Rating: 5/5 --
An affectionate, honest portrait that interrogates our need to deify dead icons, while carving out a space in music history long left vacant for Foley to fill.

One Room With A View
4 stars out of 5 -- Instead of following biopic blueprints, Hawke directs BLAZE like a Foley song: artful, all over the place and possessed of enough blunt truth and aching tenderness to pull you up short.
Rolling Stone
Rating: 3.5/5 --
It's a lengthy, inebriating, and casually funny experience that didn't fall into the usual traps of biographical films.

Always Good Movies
Rating: 3.5/4 --
Hawke tells Foley's story with heart and style, and that's going to make Blaze Foley even more of a legend, and deservedly so.

Chicago Sun-Times
More than a biography about a cursed aura composer and performer, Blaze is a love song to the country & western. [Full Review in Spanish]

El Pais (Spain)
3.5 stars out of 4 -- At its best, BLAZE feels like a cinematic translation of not just Blaze Foley’s life but his music, anchored by two incredibly likable, lived-in performances.

Product Description:
Actor Ethan Hawke directed, co-wrote and co-produced this music biopic about American country music singer-songwriter Blaze Foley (1949-1989). The screenplay was adapted from co-writer Sybil Rosen's 2008 memoir LIVING IN THE WOODS IN A TREE: REMEMBERING BLAZE. Benjamin Dickey stars as the titular character in this non-chronological examination Foley's traumatic childhood, his relationship with his wife (Rosen), his brief success, his legacy and his untimely death.
