Entertainment Reviews:
4 stars out of 5 -- Clermont-Tonnerre comes from a place of defiance, and her fearless instincts surge through every frame. Each time you think you have this movie pegged, it’ll knock you for a loop.
Rolling Stone
[Their] connection is so wondrous and quietly powerful... This is lovely.

Rating: 4/5 --
As Schoenaerts demonstrated with his pin-eyed rage in Bullhead, he's a physically gifted actor who can convey as much with stillness and silence as he can with pages full of dialogue.

Observer (UK)
A Western is always a Western, but Impens and de Clermont-Tonnerre play with perspective, angle, and color, and they know when to embrace sentimentality and when to approach the material with refreshing frankness.
A.V. Club

Kermode & Mayo's Film Review
3.5 stars out of 5 -- [A] sober and humanistic character study....A tender film about forgiveness and second chances, THE MUSTANG is a testament to the worthy stories yet to be told about the healing, unbreakable bonds between tormented people and the misunderstood animals that come to their rescue.

French director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre goes all in, embracing simplicity and sincerity without hesitation or self-consciousness.
