The New York City gang scene in the early 1990s was ruled by the Latin Kings, an enormous street gang with power to match their numbers, But in 1994, the group decided to give up their name--and their criminal ways--and call themselves the Latin King and Queen Nation and devote their efforts to goals similar to those of the Black Panthers. The filmmakers behind this documentary were allowed incredible access to the Kings and Queens beginning in 1997, revealing the world of the former gang and their clashes with police.
