WWII Victory Over Germany

BRIEF FOR INVASION: Produced by the Army Pictorial Service especially for American workers, this film begins with the D-Day invasion of Normandy, as the Allies begin to dislodge Hitler's grip on Europe. The vital contribution of industry, to keep the enormous streams of ships, planes, tanks, munitions and supplies flowing unbroken, "like a heartbeat" to our valiant troops is demonstrated to be absolutely essential to victory. General Marshall warns the American labor force, "The losses in equipment will be tremendous... Our attacks can continue only so long as an uninterrupted flow of material reaches the troops."

VICTORY OVER GERMANY: The American Army battles their way across the Rhine and sweeps into Germany in archival newsreel footage. Enemy resistance is completely devastated and the major cities of Germany fall to the unstoppable Allied onslaught while a shocked world learns the full extant of Nazi atrocities. This film climaxes with the collapse of Hitler's Empire and the victory celebrations of the free world.

AMERICA'S CALL TO ARMS: America flexes its muscles as it sends its vast industrial powerhouse to war. This patriotic short subject shows the immense munitions factories pouring out an unending stream of the ships, tanks, planes and equipment required for modern warfare. In one of the highlights, a "new" weapon is revealed - the first Jeep!

NEWS THRILLS OF 1942: Highlights of this newsreel include American and British forces landing in North Africa to establish a second front, Rommel's forces driven from Libya, and brutal warfare on the Russian front.
