Rating: 3/5 -- The splendid Madagascar films might have spolied us somewhat when it comes to African cartoon animals, but there is enough action and heart in the story to keep things aloft, especially during the big battle climax. Full Review

Product Description:

An adventurous young falcon strikes out on his own, and attempts to rescue his father from a ruthless lizard in this high-flying adventure for the entire family. Kai (Jeremy Suarez) may be growing up fast, but his overprotective father Tendai (Samuel L. Jackson) is determined to keep him safe from harm. When Kai gets brave and ventures out of the Katungu Boundary, his encounter with a stork named Gogo and a weaver named Tini leave him longing to explore the world beyond his borders. Later, Kai lands on the colorful island of Zambezia he decides to leave home. He does his best to earn a spot amongst the brave flying squadron known as The Hurricanes - who have dedicated their lives to protecting Zambezia - when he falls for a beautiful Black-Shouldered Kite named Zoe (Abigail Breslin), whose overbearing adoptive father Sekhuru (Leonard Nimoy) founded the scenic bird sanctuary. But when the wretched lizard Budzo kidnaps Tendai and the weavers in a bid to take-over Zambezia, tiny Kai proves that he's got a major appetite for adventure by joining the Hurricanes to fight back.
