Product Description:
Telemann's twelve flute Fantasias remain as much of a challenge for today's players as they were in the 18th century. Designed for both performance and instruction, these are some of the most inventive and musically original Baroque works for solo flute, covering the widest possible range of expression. This program from flautist Ashley Solomon, founder and director of the ensemble Florilegium, offers the listener a rare opportunity to hear two unique baroque flutes, both made in 1760, alongside Solomon's favorite modern copy. In combining all three on this recording, he opens a new sound world and breathes fresh life into these well-known works.
