Entertainment Reviews:
[T]his buoyantly funny comedy offers lip-smacking entertainment that will surprise many with its skewering of both sides.

Not good.

Irresistible is as scathing as you'd expect from Stewart, but it's also unexpectedly hopeful in the end. It's not an easy balancing act in today's nihilistic 24 hour news cycle, but blending humor and humanity has always been Stewart's wheelhouse.

Too safe and too hollow election-year satire.

[A] close-to-the-bone tall tale -- slightly exaggerated but still basically plausible -- of what happens when America’s two ruling political parties descend upon the rural heartland of Deerlaken, Wisconsin, to take over a small-town election for mayor.
Variety
Rating: 4/5 --
Irresistible is hugely diverting and sporadically profound. At the very end, though, it takes the path of least resistance and - dagnammit! - lets everyone off the hook.

Product Description:
Written and directed by Jon Stewart, this comedy film is about a political strategist's efforts in trying to secure Democrat votes from a Republican town. Gary (Steve Carell) thinks that the key to converting supporters for the Democratic National Committee is backing the mayoral bid of a retired US Marine in a predominantly right-wing town in Wisconsin. But when the Republican National Committee discovers this strategy, they send in their political strategist, Faith (Rose Byrne), who happens to be Gary's long-time nemesis in the political arena. Chris Cooper co-stars.
