Product Description:
Hikura lives the life of a normal grade-school kid until the day he finds a bloodstained Go board (the traditional and tremendously complex Japanese strategy game) and releases the spirit of an ancient Go player, Fujiwara-no-Sai, who committed suicide in shame. With Sai's ghostly guidance, Hikura becomes a young Go professional. Meanwhile, his rival, the Go prodigy Akira, becomes obsessed with finding the secret behind Hikura's sudden Go skills.
The HIKARU NO GO manga and anime have led to a revival of the board game among Japanese youth. The story, though filled with tense competitions and exciting situations, has a subtle, philosophical quality. In volume two of the series Hikaru enters a Go competition that he is too young to officially compete in. He must keep his secret or be ousted.
