I JUST GOT THIS ALBUM AND IT IS GOOD TO HEAR SOME ON THE OLD FAVORITES BY AN ARTIST LONG OVERLOOKED. LEAVE IT TO COLLECTABLES TO RELEASE HIS ALBUM ON CD--ONE OF THE BEST SINGERS THERE IS.
NOT TO MENTION THE GREAT RAY CONNIFF ARRANGMENTS. TOGETHER THEY DID A GOOD SET OF SONGS.
Once again Collectables has released an album which many have been waiting for for years..even if they did alter the title from "Swingin'" to "Swing" for Two...but hey, it still has all those great Don Cherry vocals and Ray Conniff arrangements, plus the added bonus of some of those hard to find Don Cherry singles. This was the only album Don Cherry ever made for Columbia recorded in April 1956 after he had scored big with "Band of Gold". Cherry had one of the most pleasant tenor voices of any singer in the 50's...I'm hoping that eventually all his Columbia singles will be available on CD.
