Entertainment Reviews:

Description by OLDIES.com:

This series, 'A Newsreel History of the Third Reich,' includes unique footage plundered by Russian Troops in 1945. Compiled as it is from German newsreels which were made under the influence of Goebbels' Ministry of Propaganda, these are by no means accurate histories but allow unique insight into how the period leading up to and including World War II was presented to the German people. This box set contains the newsreels spanning the 2nd part of 1941 to the second part of 1942.

Product Description:

The title may be slightly misleading: the NEWSREEL HISTORY OF THE THIRD REICH does not present or intend to present Nazi history as it actually occurred, but Reich history as filtered through the deliberate and warped bias of the Josef Goebbels/Ministry of Information propaganda machine; it thus offers a unique and singular view of how such information was strategically and distortedly presented to the German public. This box set caters to series fans by bringing into a single package volumes 6-10 of the 20-volume series. Volumes 6, 7 and 8 cover, respectively, the second, third and fourth parts of the year 1941, with treatment of such events as the battles for Kovno, the brutal artillery attacks on Brest, Rommel's decorations of his soldiers in Africa, Hitler addressing crowds in Berlin, and Christmas 1941 in a Nazi military hospital. Volumes 9 and 10 cover, respectively, the first and second parts of the year 1942, including Rommel's advances west of Torbuk, the occupation of the Atlantic by U-Boats, advances on Leningrad, U.S.S.R. , and the RAF bombing of Paris, France.
