Entertainment Reviews:
Rating: 3.5/4 --
Haneke both enthralls and repells us, luring us into a world where all feelings are buried deep beneath the quaint and idyllic surface.

From the Front Row
[T]ense, provocative and unnerving....[The film] could be considered a culmination of this difficult director's brilliant career.
Los Angeles Times
Haneke's rigorous control of his material is so unerring, and the acting so eerily and chillingly perfect, it works simply as a portrait of this community at this particular time.

The Spectator
As for Haneke's handling of the material, his directing is immaculate. Every moment is the product of a penetrating mind and a steady talent.

The New Republic
[Haneke] uses the sharp elegance of Christian Berger's monochrome cinematography, the grammatical precision of old-fashioned speech and the pageantry of period drama to lull and also to inflame the audience's expectations.
New York Times
3.5 stars out of 4 -- Shot in stunning black-and-white by the gifted Christian Berger, THE WHITE RIBBON is a toxic blossom of images that burn into your memory...
Rolling Stone
Rating: 5/5 --
The White Ribbon may present difficult themes and have spiky edges and perhaps could not be described as entertainment but, as a piece of cinema, it is undoubtedly stunning.

Product Description:
Controversy-courting director Michael Haneke (CACHÉ) earned the Palm d’Or at Cannes in 2009 for this arresting drama set just before World War I. In a small German village, a number of unexplained accidents beset the schoolchildren and their parents. Though they at first appear coincidental, it begins to seem that they are not, in fact, accidents at all.
