Entertainment Reviews:
3 stars out of 5 -- Daisy Ridley infuses Ophelia with maximum Rey-ness...
Empire
Rating: 3/5 --
If you put Shakespeare out of your mind, the film's soapy approach offers some lively moments.

Shadows on the Wall
[A]nn engaging reshaping of Hamlet in which the prince’s lady love takes center stage....This vigorous, colorful and clever melodrama smartly rethinks both the play and the character, making her a far more proactive figure than Shakespeare did in addition to entirely reimagining her fate.
Hollywood Reporter
A stunning reinvention of the tale of Hamlet, thanks to Daisy Ridley's layered performance.

The movie sounds and looks good....This is instead Ophelia as a 21st-century heroine, who after a smudge-faced childhood running wild in her king’s castle -- and being excluded from studying with the boys -- grows into a woman with desires, ambitions and a pronounced rebellious streak.
New York Times
Rating: 2/5 --
A confused melodrama more fitting for a retelling of Twilight in the woods than of the greatest play ever written.

Little White Lies
[B]eautifully photographed and impressively staged...the title character moves from the supporting ranks and takes center stage.

Product Description:
Ophelia (Daisy Ridley), a rebellious, young woman, is taken in by the Queen of Denmark, Gertrude (Naomi Watts), to be one of her ladies-in-waiting. Through the years, she becomes one of the Queen's most favored, and when Hamlet (George MacKay), the Queen's son, comes back home from studying, they eventually fall in love. As a power struggle arises in the castle, Ophelia needs to make a hard decision -- her love or her life. This reimagining of Shakespeare's Hamlet is based on a novel by Lisa Klein, and is directed by Claire McCarthy.
