Product Description:
One of the greatest and most underrated singers of her time, June Christy is best known for her work in the cool jazz genre. Christy first rose to prominence with the Stan Kenton Orchestra in 1945, then began to pursue a solo career starting in 1947. in 1954 Christy released a 10" LP entitled "Something Cool" which became instrumental in launching the cool vocal movement of the 1950s. Presented here is a 1956 session recorded in Los Angeles with June fronting the big band of Les Brown & His Band of Renown. Some of the musicians included are Bobby Styles (trumpet), Ray Sims (trombone), Clyde "Stumpy" Brown (bass trombone), Billy Usselton (tenor sax), Vernon Polk (guitar) and Lloyd Morales (drums). All selections newly remastered. [Note: This product is an authorized CD-R and is manufactured on demand]
