In 1959, the year this vintage record was recorded, Charles won the Metropolitan Opera auditions in New York, becoming the first Hawaiian singer to win the prestigious award. He went on to give a command performance at the White House and toured Russia with the Ed Sullivan show. This classic album features Davis backed by an orchestra and chorus conducted by Franz Allers. The selections are all popular show tunes delivered by Davis with much style and panache. All selections newly remastered.
