"Kansas shall be free!" So proclaims John Brown (Raymond Massey), whose fiery fanaticism in cites his six sons and followers to murder pro-slavers so the state can enter the Union slavery-free. Vowing to continue the right, Brown heads to Harpers Ferry, Virginia, where he and son Owen (Jeffrey Hunter) launch a slave revolt that will end in either infamy or glory.
