3 stars out of 5 -- Like WESTWORLD, REMINISCENCE has a beautifully considered setting. The story takes place at some point in the future, in Miami.

Empire
REMINISCENCE aims for something existential within a well-recognized film-noir template.
RogerEbert.com
[E]njoyably dense....REMINISCENCE reaches past its own memories of the detective stories of yore, to something sadder and truer and more distinctive.
A.V. Club
3 stars out of 5 -- Joy, the co-creator of HBO’s WESTWORLD, has put together an ambitious mix of science fiction and old-fashioned detective noir.
Total Film
It’s well-crafted, shot with expert gradations of filtered gloss, and every piece of its story falls into place just so.

Product Description:
In her feature film directorial debut, writer-director Lisa Joy helms this somewhat dystopian sci-fi tale set in Miami in the near future, where it's a bit bleak and surrounded by evidence of natural catastrophe. In this revamped society, Nick Bannister (Hugh Jackman) runs a business using technology to tap into people's memories as they relive their nostalgic past. Trouble starts when Nick falls for Mae (Rebecca Ferguson), a mysterious client who seems to be implicated in a crime, as evident in another client's nostalgic memories. Co-starring Thandiwe Newton, Cliff Curtis, and Daniel Wu.
