Rating: 4/5 -- Buster Keaton's silent comedy Steamboat Bill, Jr. displays more inspired energy and inventiveness than pretty much everything else currently in cinemas combined. Full Review

Rating: 3.5/4 -- the story is just a set-up for the comedy, which Keaton executes with his trademark combination of perfectly timed derring-do and taciturn nonchalance Full Review

Rating: 4/4 -- The extended rescue climax provides the heights of Steamboat Bill, Jr.'s ingenious choreography, but Keaton's brilliance as a performer shines just as brightly (if not more) in the simpler moments...[Blu-ray] Full Review

Keaton's most coherent feature-length comedies...can't stop playing with the immigrant nature of American identity: each of us is far from home, and the natives aren't friendly. Full Review

Description by OLDIES.com:

Buster Keaton plays the son of a steamboat captain in this classic comedy from the silent era. Regarded by many as one of Keatons best, he not only turns in a fine acting job as an effete young man trying to show his worth, but he also creates some of the greatest action sequences in the history of the movies. Our only advice is that you wait for the hurricane scene, and keep an eye on the falling building! Also starring Tom McGuire and Marion Byron, this production will have you rooting for Buster to save the day!
