TOMATOMETER
Total Count: 12
Rating: 3.0 -- Homaging the 1980's is great but, at times, it feels more like a template because, in execution, The Call is really a much darker movie and stylistically moves into more J-Horror territory. Full Review

I enjoyed The Call from start to finish. Full Review

Rating: C- -- At least there's Shaye and Bell, who are remarkable in their dedication to the material, trying to make their character pain feel real. It's unfortunate they're not the stars of the film. Full Review

With an original concept, chilling kills, and stunning performances, The Call is more than worth picking up. Full Review

Rating: 7.5/10 -- ...thanks to some chilling imagery, two well-written characters and phenomenal performances from Bell and Shaye, it proves to be an entertaining enough ride for horror genre enthusiasts. Full Review

It works on some levels, with talented acting from Chester Rushing and Tobin Bell. But the forced nostalgia and cheap effects hinder the final product. Full Review
Flickering Myth

Rating: 2/5 -- The Call is ultimately a derivative horror film with a half baked 80's setting and a narrative that struggles to maintain much in the way of originality and surprise. Full Review

Product Description:

It's 1987, and neighborhood teens bring a new friend to do an autumn prank tradition: to hurl rocks at the house of the elderly couple Edith (Lin Shaye) and Edward Cranston (Tobin Bell) since the rumor in their sleepy town is that Edith is a witch. The teens later get the surprise of their lives when Edward calls and gathers them in his house for an announcement: Edith has died, and she left money for the teens in her will. Anyone who survives a one-minute phone call will get to take home the inheritance—but the call should be made to Edith in her grave. Directed by Timothy Woodward Jr.
