There are many nods, visual and otherwise, to the original 1996 film THE CRAFT in Zoe Lister-Jones' remake....Lister-Jones knows the terrain well and has a lot of affection for the original.

The new film dangles its intersectional feminism without flaunting it, and suggests a potent link between witchcraft and activism that young viewers may find inspiring. Full Review

These are confident, independent young women even before they harness the mysteries of the occult, which makes for a gentler, more carefree take on the material.

Rating: 2.5/4 -- Sadly, it then goes totally haywire, with a third act trading in maudlin melodrama, climaxing in a cheap and poorly directed supernatural battle between the sexes, turning what initially felt like a stone-cold classic into Twilight: Special Witch Edition. Full Review

3 stars out of 5 -- From the get-go, Lister-Jones builds an eclectic clique; Spaeny’s wide-eyed lead is an empathetic way into this witchy world, while Gideon Adlon’s chatty Frankie, Lovie Simone’s thoughtful Tabby and Zoey Luna’s vibrant Lourdes all initially stand out as engaging characters.
