Description by OLDIES.com:

Father Jerry Donovan has spent his life on the harsh streets of Hell's Kitchen in New York City - first as a member of a street gang and then as a pastor. After the savage murder of his brother, long lost childhood friend Mike O'Mara (William Gargan) brings the priest's dark past to light as Father Donovan tries to undo the mistakes of his misspent adolescence.

The street-wise priest, who can use his hands for punches as well as for prayer, delves into the murder investigation and another old friend, Marty Malone (Victor McLaglen), reemerges. Marty was a pyromaniac in his youth and is now a racketeer who runs an organized crime syndicate.

Father Donovan struggles to avert more bloodshed and remove the tarnish from his own soul in this gritty chronicle of growing up on New York's mean streets.

The Devil's Naptime Movie Lover: from somewhere out there -- May, 12, 2006

A gang of juvenile delinquents in Hell's Kitchen, NY, set fire to a warehouse to cause a distraction while they raid a vegetable stand. One (named Marty Malone) gets caught but won't rat on his pals and is sent to reform school. Years later, they've found some success in varying life-paths, but still meet up once a year. Marty has become a racketeer, but other ex-gang kids have become cops, nightclub singers, and one - named Jerry Donovan - has become a priest. Some of Marty's thugs kill a guy, and one of the cops figures out what happened so they kill him, too. This doesn't please Marty (who's not all bad) but he's stuck in it. Father Donovan has to draw on his old streetwise skills to settle the whole thing before his other cop friend and Marty kill each other. Pretty creaky pre-noir B-flick that's okay if you have a tolerance for outdated melodrama, but it's rather dull for most tastes, even though it's only 65 minutes long. Nobody will confuse this with _Sleepers._
