Description by OLDIES.com:
In a post-apocalyptic Earth, Jaxxon Pierce, a wealthy businessman played by Stephen Dorff (Blade), controls the manufacturing of an immortality serum called "Divinity," originally created by his late father Sterling Pierce, portrayed by Scott Bakula (Lord of Illusions). When two brothers crash into the barren planet to stop Jaxxon's exploitation of the serum, they take him hostage and force-feed him his own drug until he mutates into a monstrous being. The film, written and directed by Eddie Alcazar (Perfect) and produced by Steven Soderbergh (Solaris), unfolds in a practical effects-fueled climax featuring gruesome makeup and stop-motion animation.
Shot on 16mm black and white reversal film, DIVINITY is a unique blend of sci-fi and horror, boasting an eclectic ensemble cast including Bella Thorne, Michael O'Hearn, Karrueche Tran, and Emily Willis. Vinegar Syndrome Pictures proudly presents this analog genre masterpiece following its international festival run, which included nominations at Sundance and Sitges.
Bonus features on the Blu-ray include an audio conversation between Eddie Alcazar and Steven Soderbergh, a video essay by film historian Samm Deighan, behind-the-scenes footage, trailers, still gallery, and a booklet with an essay by Ariel Esteban Cayer. English SDH subtitles are also included for accessibility.
