A freak meteor storm cuts off communications between planet Earth and a U.S. military moon base, leaving the terrified crew completely defenseless against an extraterrestrial threat unlike anything mankind has ever seen before. As the meteors start to fall, Col. Gerard Brauchman (Christian Slater) and his crew race frantically to stabilize the lunar base. Later, as life-support systems begin to fail, shape-shifting alien spores begin multiplying all over the base. Their numbers dwindling as the attack ramps up, the few surviving astronauts quickly realize that should they fail to contain it, the alien plague will soon reach planet Earth.
