Rating: 2/5 -- Queen of the Desert has the note of a travelogue about it -- that is to say, it feels well-travelled, but not well-lived. Full Review

Rating: 1/4 -- An emotionally empty, thematically ill-defined, and listless affair. It is never able to communicate the complexity of the woman at its center. Full Review

Bell was an extraordinary figure, tailor-made for a dazzling presence like Kidman, but Werner Herzog, directing his own script, unwisely structures Bell's story around her intimate relationships with men. Full Review

Herzog feels an obvious kinship with Bell’s independent spirit, a figure who broke the confines of her 'domesticated' upbringing so she could touch distant lands and discover herself.
