Unexpectedly, the film best serves as a cautionary anecdote that epitomizes the mutual apprehension between Internet-age start-ups and establishment media. Full Review

Rating: 2.5/4 -- Interesting recounting of the Cenk Uygur story that's sorely in need of voices from outside his inner circle, people who might think he's just a professional contrarian and opportunist. Full Review

Rating: 2/5 -- There's a promotional bent to Mad As Hell that whiffs more of branding than rigorous documentary filmmaking. Full Review

There's little to see here that explains [...] why people not already fans of Uygur's would want to watch an entire film about him.

Rating: 2/5 -- A documentary with a paralyzingly narrow focus, and one whose bigger question - What is happening to the news as we know it in this age of fractured and freewheeling media?- is shunned in favor of a simpler one: Doesn't Cenk Uygur seem like a great guy? Full Review

If Napier hadn't shown up with a camera, Uygur would likely have continued filming himself, because his "firebrand" commentary is only ostensibly about politics; it's mostly about projecting the world onto his own ego and making it Cenk Uygur-shaped. Full Review

Rating: C -- Everything about YouTube political pundit Cenk Uygur is big: his opinions, his hand gestures, his eye rolls and, of course, his ego. Full Review

Description by OLDIES.com:

The Young Turks, one of the most popular online news shows in the world, has amassed a YouTube network of over 2.4 million subscribers and 2 billion views. But that wasn't always the case. MAD AS HELL documents the tumultuous, at times hilarious and altogether astonishing trajectory of Cenk Uygur, The Young Turks' main host and founder, as he traverses from unknown Public Access TV host to internet sensation. When he ventures into television and lands on MSNBC, Cenk's uncensored brand of journalism is compromised as he becomes a thorn in the side of traditional news media; his unwavering dedication to speaking the truth puts him at the very nexus of the battle between new and old media, and makes MAD AS HELL not only entertaining, but incredibly timely as well.

Product Description:

Andrew Napier's documentary MAD AS HELL profiles Cenk Uygur, the political reporter who forged an unconventional path to relevancy. His passionate reporting often has put him at odds with powerful people, occasionally even those who were employing him, and the movie showcases how the Internet played a key role in him advancing his career.
