This first rate drama was based on the real "Scopes Trial" in which Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryant were the attorneys. Gene Kelly plays H.L. Mencken. Academy Award Nominations: 4, including Best Actor--Spencer Tracy, Best (Adapted) Screenplay.
