2010 release. The works of the St. Thomas school Kantor featured on this production in the Bach Trumpet Gala series are once again full of festive Baroque getups and the same can be said of the accompanying works by Georg Philipp Telemann and Georg Friedrich H„ndel. However, these works are complemented by compositions written by the 20th century composers Zsolt Gardonyi, Herald Genzmer, Bernhard Krol and Wilfried Hiller. Organists Hedwig Bilgram and Edgar Krapp have already added their brilliant playing to previous Trumpet Galas. As a trumpeter Arnold Mehl was involved in numerous recordings during the pioneering period of historical performing practice; on this CD production he not only participates as performer and leader of the ensemble, Mehl was also the arranger of the works.
